I filled out the form. What happens next?
We contact you in two days and let you know if we can organize your talk. In some cases, we are unable to arrange a talk for you, i.g. your trip coincides with holidays or exam time in Iran. If we decide to organize your talk, we will confirm your host and ask you to send us the abstract of your talk, your biography and your preferred days for the presentation. After we get these information, we connect you with the local organizer to arrange other details.
top
Can I present my talk in English?
If you know how to speak Persian, we suggest that you present your talk in Persian. The audience, many of them undergraduate students, would learn more from your talk, if you present it in Persian. Your presentation slides can be prepared in English though.
top
Can you organize a one-day workshop for me instead of a one-hour talk?
Yes, however organizing a workshop requires more arrangements and therefore you should contact us well in advance. We also expect you to have a Ph.D. degree, preferably be a faculty member.
top
In what fields, do you organize seminars?
Our expertise is in Engineering, Physical Sciences and Mathematics. However, we have organized seminars in other fields too. If your research area is not in the above fields, contact us directly to see what we can do for you.
top
Who are the audience of my talk? How general should my talk be?
It depends. You should check that with the local organizer. However, if we are organizing your talk in a university, your audience will likely include many undergraduate students. Therefore we suggest your talk to be very general. A presentation you have prepared for a conference is not usually suitable for your talk in Iran.
top
Is there a video-projector in the lecture hall?
Yes, unless we inform you otherwise.
top
Do you pay for my flight to Iran?
No, we do not have financial resources to pay for your flight.

Physics Today, Vol 57
The Iranian government has committed 150 billion rials (roughly $17.5 million) for a telescope, an observatory, and a training program, all part of a plan to build up the country?Ĵs astronomy base. Iran wants to collaborate internationally and to become internationally competitive in astronomy, says the University of Michigan?Ĵs Carl Akerlof, an adviser to the Iranian project. ?ĺFor a government that is usually characterized as wary of foreigners, that?Ĵs an important development.?Ĺ

In an article published this week in Nature magazine, the scientific impact of nations has been compared among 31 countries that in total generate 98 percent of the world?Ĵs scientific papers. Among the listed countries, Iran ranks 30th, just above the country of Luxemburg with population 460,000. Iran produced 4813 papers in the period of 1997-2001, which is 0.13 percent of the world?Ĵs total production. In terms of citations, Iran shows even a poorer track record. Articles published by Iranian authors recieved only 0.06 percent of total citations. Even though the numbers are very low compared to the other countries on the list, Iran has shown rapid growth in recent years. The number of papers generated in Iran increased by more than 100 percent from the period of 1993-1997 to 1997-2001
